Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

How do I enrol at PCDA?

Enrolling is easy! Simply enrol online via our website. Once you’re enrolled, you’ll receive a confirmation email with everything you need to know to feel confident and excited before your first class.

Can my child try a class before committing?

Absolutely! We offer trial classes for new students (subject to availability) so your child can experience the vibe of PCDA before enrolling.

What age can my child start?

We offer classes from preschool age right through to teens. Our programs are carefully designed to suit each age and stage, helping every student feel supported, confident, and proud of themselves.

If your child isn't quite ready to participate without Mum or Dad, we have a guardian assist program allowing them to build their confidence with the support of their grown up in the room!

Classes & Programs

How do I know which class is right for my child?

Our classes follow clear age and ability guidelines, but we know every child is unique. If you’re unsure, our team is always happy to help recommend a class that best suits your child’s experience, confidence, and goals.

Does my child need experience to join?

Many of our beginner classes are perfect for students with no prior experience.

Extension, competition team and squad programs are progression-based and require teacher recommendation to ensure safety and confidence.

What is Aerials at PCDA?

Aerials is our foundation program where students build strength, flexibility, coordination, and performance skills while being introduced to aerial apparatus such as silks, lyra trapeze.

It’s a beautiful blend of fun, challenge, and confidence-building.

What aerial equipment will my child learn on?

Within the aerials program students may train on silks, lyra and trapeze with progressions carefully guided by our experienced teaching team.

What is Aerials Extension and Aerials Squad?

Aerials Extension* and Aerials Squad** are advanced programs for committed aerial students who are ready to take their training to the next level.

These programs offer:

- Increased strength and flexibility training

- Accelerated skill progression

- Performance and routine development

- Opportunities to showcase skills at special events

* Aerials Extension students MUST also be enrolled in an Aerials class.
** Aerials Squad students MUST also be enrolled in an Aerials Extension class, but do not need to enrol in an Aerials class.

Aerials Squad students are invited to enter their solo / duo routines in Bend the Air Aerial Competition.

Is Aerial training safe?

Yes, safety is our top priority! We have strict policies around rigging requirements including 6-monthly checks by our certified rigger, daily rig checks by our qualified team and ALWAYS ensure students are training above a proper crash mat (no airtracks under apparatus'!!).

All aerials classes at PCDA are taught by qualified teachers, follow structured progressions, and are carefully supervised. Students are only progressed onto skills when they demonstrate the required strength and control.

Uniforms / What to Wear

Is there a uniform?

Yes, we have a uniform for most classes at PCDA.

Uniforms help create a confident, team-like atmosphere and allow our coaches to clearly see body alignment and technique, which means students stay safer and progress faster.

They also make life easier for families (no daily outfit decisions!) and help students feel like they truly belong.

Why does PCDA wear uniform?

We love uniform because it supports:

Safety & Technique — coaches can correct alignment more easily

Confidence — students feel prepared and “part of the crew”

Consistency — every student feels included, regardless of what they own

Professionalism — it sets the tone for focus, pride, and progress

What do I wear to my trial class?

Once you enrol, we’ll provide your exact uniform list - we keep things easy by having all uniform items available to purchase in studio!

As a general guide, for your trial class:

- Fitted activewear is best (so teachers can support technique)

- Hair tied back securely

- Bring a water bottle

Fees & Commitment

How are fees charged?

Fees are charged via weekly direct debit, making it simple and predictable for families.

Your weekly fee covers your child’s enrolled classes and secures their place in the program.

What if we need to cancel our enrolment?

We understand that circumstances can change 🩷

PCDA requires two weeks’ written notice to cancel enrolment.

This notice period helps us manage staffing, waitlists, and class planning with care and fairness for all families.

Teams & Performance

What are PCDA Teams, Squads and Crew classes?

PCDA Teams, Squads and Crew classes are designed for students who are ready for a higher level of training, commitment, and performance.

These programs offer exciting opportunities to train as part of a supportive team, develop strong performance skills, and represent PCDA at competitions and events throughout the year.

Being part of a team builds confidence, resilience, teamwork, and a strong sense of PCDA spirit ✨

How Do Students Join PCDA Teams, Squads & Crew?

At PCDA, we don’t believe in traditional auditions. We believe students shine when they’re given the opportunity, the right training and support, and clear expectations to rise ✨

Instead of auditions, students who wish to be involved in Teams, Squads or Crew are required to:

- Be enrolled in the pre-requisite classes for their chosen program

- Demonstrate readiness through consistent attendance, effort, and attitude

- Be willing to commit to the full-year requirements of the team, including training and performances

This approach allows students to grow with confidence, feel supported, and develop at their own pace, while still maintaining strong standards and a positive team environment.

What is the commitment level for Teams, Squads & Crew?

Because these programs are team-based, they come with an increased level of commitment.

Students enrolled in Teams, Squads or Crew are required to:

- Commit to the full year of training

- Attend classes consistently and reliably

- Participate in all listed competitions, performances, and events

- Support their teammates by being present, prepared, and positive

This commitment ensures a positive experience for every student and allows teams to train, grow, and perform together as a unit.

Is Teams, Squads / Crews right for my child?

Teams, Squads and Crew are best suited to students who:

- Love performing and being part of a team

- Are motivated to train consistently

- Are ready to take responsibility and show commitment

- Want to grow in both skill and confidence

Our team will always guide families if a different pathway may be a better fit.
